Here are some of the topics and news scheduled for this meeting:
Conquer the Coast
We will have an update on Conquer the Coast and a CTC representative is scheduled to speak to us about the upcoming September premier ride event in Corpus Christi. You can still sign up at CTC website. CTC has scheduled 65, 25 and 10 mile rides. The ride is scheduled for September 22nd, 2012.
“The moment you reach the 243 ft peak of the Harbor Bridge and begin your descend towards the shoreline you realize this isn’t just a ride–from this point on, it will forever become an annual tradition” . . . read more.
Time Trial Series
The time trial series was a great success this year. We will give out prizes for the winners including gifts and various door prizes.
For more information on the predicted times and winners, see the time trial results.
Mathis Ride July 2012
We have a ride scheduled next week, Sunday, July 15th, 2012 at 6:30am starting at the Wallmart in Callalen. This will be a fully supported SAG ride. We ask that every rider pitch in $5 for the SAG support vehicle. Exact change would be appreciated. The SAG support vehicle will provide ride support including food and drink availability to our riders.
This ride is open to all local riders. There will be a 45,65 and 85 mile route for the course. There will be a ride leader for each route. This will be a ‘no drop’ ride. Please come and join us for the fun group ride! We ask the riders ride to their abilities.
Cycle Kids Update
The cycle kids program will be implemented this year by our Club. “CYCLE KIDS PROMOTES HEALTHY LIFESTYLE CHOICES BY INTRODUCING KIDS TO THE JOY OF BICYCLING AND EDUCATING THEM ABOUT BIKE SAFETY AND NUTRITION. WE EMPOWER CHILDREN TO DEVELOP POSITIVE, SAFE, AND ACTIVE LIFELONG HABITS.” We hope to implement this program to 2 area schools this summer. An update will be presented by Mike Bertuzzi.
K-III TV 3 Interview
On July 20th, 2012, we have a local interview scheduled for the TV 3 morning show. We will need some volunteers to represent our club at this interview. If you are interested in participating in this interview and promotion for our cycle club, you can volunteer at our next club meeting.

Proposed Bicycle Lane becomes reality!
In March of this year, Corpus Christi Cycle Club was instrumental in the proposed US DOT Tiger IV Grant application. The port was successful in obtaining the grant when they added bicycle lanes and obtained the club letter of support.
As stated in the port proposal:
“The Nueces River Rail Yard project not only delivers transportation benefits but also has a positive impact on the quality of life in the community by providing a bicycle lane. The shoulder lanes of the Fulton Corridor will be painted with bicycle lane pavement markings for the 10 miles between Carbon Plant Road and Burleson Blvd to provide a safe route for cyclists. Estimated cost for full build out is $17.5 Million.”
