Corpus Christi Cycle Club wants to thank everyone who came out and showed support for the 1st Annual “Ride of Silence”. This was the first of such an event to visit the coastal bend. More than 50 local riders from various local riding clubs participated in the event.
Peter Staneland, our CC Cycle Club president, gave a small introduction about the ride and its purpose. The Balboa Family was there to talk about their only son, Tony Balboa, who lost his life last year in Alice while training on his bike. The first Ride of Silence was dedicated to Tony Balboa and Donny Kloster, both who lost their lives doing what they enjoyed; cycling. Wayne Genzer led a prayer for all our fallen brethren. It was a special feeling knowing that this event was shared by all riders all over the world.
The Caller Times was there to capture the event as well as local riders who took many photos and films. The ride this year went from the skate park at Cole Park to the American Bank Center and back to the Park. Pizza was served after the ride to be enjoyed by all.
This morning we were featured on the front page of the Caller times.
We want to thank everyone again for making this event such a great success!!
