TxDOT representatives presented a short presentation on the FM43 project that extends from Yorktown and Weber to Chapman Ranch Road (Corner of Bay Area Fellowship Church). The proposed improvements would involve adding an additional lane to each direction of traffic creating a four land road; much like weber at Saratoga north of the proposed project area. Gretchen Arnold, Tom Neigli and AI Kline were also at the Pedestrian/Cycling subcommittee meeting yesterday at City Hall. Our consensus would be that TxDOT provide a MARKED bicycle lane of 4 feet each way within the proposed 15 foot expansion lane. Sidewalks have also been proposed to provide a safer route to school and recreational usage.
If you would like to comment or email on this proposed project, please send all comments to Amy, Christopher (Christopher.Amy@txdot.gov) or 361-808-2376. TxDOT is still accepting written comments from the public and we urge our cycling members to all send in a request to add a MARKED bicycle lane to the proposed project.
Also, if you can download the TxDOT FM 43 Comment Form and send this form either by email or snail mail to:

You can register on-line here. All rides will start and finish in Kerrville, Texas with each day offering multiple options at distances ranging from about 20 to 100 miles. All rides are fully-supported with rest stops at strategic intervals along the routes supplemented by roving SAG vehicles. This should be great fun for area riders and club members to participate in this beautiful riding venue in the Texas hill country!
Near the end of March, a planning committee will contact member and non-members and determine who will be participating in this event. If you have ordered your kits by FEBRUARY 29th, we will all be wearing our new CC Cycle Club kits to promote our club presence at the ride! We will likely coordinate a meeting place so we can group into distance groups (for Friday that is the 21, 39, 56, and 65 mile groups, Saturday that is the 35, 50, 61, 79, or 102 mile groups and if you are riding Sunday, there are 2-30 mile routes, one flat the other hilly)
Thanks again to everyone who participated in this month’s meeting. We will schedule another meeting at Kiko’s the second Monday of March (March 12th at 7pm).
