CORPUS CHRISTI — Police said they now are searching for a hunter green Chevrolet Camaro they believe struck and killed a Flour Bluff cyclist last week.
Stacey Palmer, 47, died about 12:30 a.m. Oct. 21 while riding a bicycle in the 9700 block of South Padre Island Drive. Police believe a motorist struck Palmer and stopped only to pull his bicycle away from the car and left, police said.
On Wednesday, Corpus Christi police released a photo of a car similar to the one that struck Palmer and dragged him several feet.
Officers found evidence at the scene indicating the car’s model and color. They believe it was built between 1994 and 1997.
The car may have severe damage to the front right corner, police said.
Outraged by Palmer’s death, two local athletic organizations have offered a combined reward of $1,500 for information leading to an arrest.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-8477 or the police department at 886-2596.
